“I think it’s crazy how far we’ve come, being such a young school,” said Avery McKay. “Some of the other teams get surprised by how good we play and I think that’s to our advantage. Being able to come out on top like this and make it to the regional tournament, it feels really good.” more
“He’s just stronger this year,” said Katy head coach Gary Joseph. “You can tell he’s stronger with stuff. That’s not all of it though, he’s more mature too. He works at it and he has a great attitude. Anytime he gets hit or it doesn’t go his way, he gets up and goes to the next play. He’s a great kid.” more

“Last year we ran that same exact play in an overtime game and I’d done it before and I knew all I needed was a yard,” Stanford said. “I just put my head down and that’s what I did, everyone blocked and all I did was just reach the ball over and get us the score.” more
