Katy got two of their clutchest hits of the year this week to keep their season alive and sweep past Jersey Village in the area round, beating the Falcons 5-3 and 3-2 in two games that went all the way down to the wire.

Katy had to overcome a two run deficit in game one. Katy got on the board first in the fourth inning, getting a run off an error, but Jersey Village scored two runs in the fifth inning. It stayed that way until the top of the seventh, when Katy loaded the bases and Jon Artis came to the plate as a pinch hitter and hit a grand slam over the center field wall. Katy then closed out Jersey Village with a three up three down bottom of the seventh. Artis led the way offensively with his four RBIs, while Connor Udland pitched 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out six and walking two and Arvey Huerta pitched the final 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four while walking one.

Game two was even tighter from the two teams and went 10 innings, only ending on a walk off from Katy in extras.

Katy scored on an error om the fourth inning to take the lead and Cade Nelson added another on a single later in the inning. Jersey Village answered back though in the sixth on a two run home run that tied the game. The game continued all the way to the 10th inning, when Sutton Hull drew a walk and Udland came to the plate and hit a double that drove in the game winning run for a walk off win. Nelson and Udland had the two RBIs in the game and Nelson had a strong day on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing just two runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking three. Aiden Barrientes came in and earned the win by pitching the final three innings, not allowing a hit while striking out six and walking four.

Katy advances to play Cy-Fair in the regional quarterfinals, times and dates to be determined.
