Tompkins swept both the boys and girls gold medals at the District 19-6A cross country meet on Thursday at Paul D. Rushing park, sending both of the Falcons teams to regionals.

Tompkins sweeps gold at District cross country meet
Tompkins swept both the boys and girls gold medals at the District 19-6A cross country meet on Thursday at Paul D. Rushing park, sending both of the Falcons teams to regionals and taking the crown as the best cross-country team in Katy ISD in the 2022-2023 school year.
Joining Tompkins in the regionals on the boys side were second place finisher Seven Lakes and third place finisher Cinco Ranch.
Seven Lakes’ Matthew Montgomery took first place in the meet with a time of 15 minutes, 37.19 seconds, while Cinco Ranch’s Adrian Hahn Vadstein finished second with a time of 15 minutes, 51.29 seconds and Tompkins’ Mathias Pitzel finished in third place with a time of 15 minutes, 53.49 seconds.
The rest of Tompkins gold finishing team was Austin Garcia, who finished fourth, Parker Wood, who finished eighth, Aiden Ramshaw, who finished ninth, Juan Perez Salas, who finished 10th, Aaron Ramshaw, who finished 17th and Diego Reyes, who finished 31st.
Individuals that qualified for regionals on the boys side were Mayde Creek’s Anthony Perez and Santos Vega, Katy’s Even Couture, Ryder Darcey, Logan Morris, Joshua Perez and Caden Reed, Paetow’s Nicolas Valadez, Jordan’s Jacob Wyman, and Taylor’s Carlos Varela
For the girls, Tompkins Rowan Saacke came away with the gold medal, running a time of 18 minutes, 30.61 seconds, while Mayde Creek’s Rachel Solano came in second with a time of 18 minutes, 48.27 seconds and Katy’s Maddy Hunter came in third with a time of 19 minutes 0.38 seconds.
Tompkins gold medal team consisted of Saacke, fourth place finisher Courtney Richman, seventh place finisher Mary Alice Sheley, 13th place finisher Meghan Carlson, 21st place finisher Sophia Ramshaw, 26th place finisher Jordan Musselman and 40th place finisher Ashley Thompson.
Mayde Creek finished second overall at the meet while Katy finished third, as both moved their teams on to the regional tournament along with Tompkins.
Individuals who qualified were Cinco Ranch’s Kirsten Thomas and Keely Hrachovy, Taylor’s Casey Scherperrel and Emilia Liev, Seven Lakes Laine Heiser, and Jordans Beatriz Leapple, Addison Sutton, Isabella Castillo, Ximena Lopez and Lilah Katz.
