Katy increased its lead atop of District 19-6A to three games on Tuesday, beating Tompkins 13-2 in a run rule to move to 22-3 on the season and 9-0 in district play.
Cameryn Harrison was her usual strong self on the mond, allowing one earned run over six innings on four hits, while striking out nine and walking two to earn the win. Peyton Watson had three RBIs and Ella-Kate Smith had two RBIs to lead the Tigers.
Ashtyn Reichardt gave Katy the lead in the bottom of the first when she hit an RBI single and the Tigers never looked back. Montgomery Henderson doubled it a batter later on another single and Peyton Watson made things 3-0 in the inning by driving in another run on a double.
Tompkins made it a two run game in the third inning when Samantha Crumrin hit a sacrifice grounder.
Katy finally found its groove offensively in the fifth inning. Maddie Smith hit a solo home run to open the inning and Katy got two more runs off errors before Harrison hit a one-run double and Watson hit a single to drive in another before Katy got a final run in the inning off an error.
Tompkins got a second run in the sixth inning when Crumrin grounded into a fielders choice, but Katy ended things in the sixth inning. Ella-Kate Smith hit an RBI single before Watson drove in a run on a single and Avery Porter ended things on a single that drove in two, securing the run rule win.
Crumrin started on the mound and went four innings for Tompkins, allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking two, she also drove in both of the teams runs. Tompkins fell into a three-way tie for second place in district with the loss, as the Falcons record dropped to 6-3 in district and 12-6 overall.
Jordan run rules Mayde Creek
Mayde Creek suffered a setback on Tuesday, getting run ruled by Jordan as the Warriors had a strong day on the mound and at the plate to earn a 10-0 win as Jordan improved to 11-9-1 overall and 3-6 in district play.
Ryan McIntosh had a strong day on the mound, allowing just two hits over five innings while striking out nine and not walking a batter to secure the shutout victory. She also added two RBIs along with Lyra Berry and Aislyn Duhon who both drove in two each as well.
Jordan got on the board in the first inning, when Madeline Williams drove in a run on a double, Maddie Jovanovic then singled later in the inning and multiple errors by the Rams allowed four runs to come across as Jordan took a 5-0 lead to end the first inning.
Things stayed that way until the fourth inning, when Jordan got two runners on and McIntosh came to the plate to hit a two-run double. Berry hit a triple to make things 9-0 in the fifth inning before Cady Bowyer drove in a run on an RBI double to end the game and clinch the run rule win.
Alyssa Gonzalez started on the mound for the Rams and went four innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking four. The Rams fell to 11-6-1 overall and 6-3 in district play as they also fell into that three way tie for second place.
Cinco Ranch wins tough matchup with Taylor
Cinco Ranch earned a huge win on Tuesday to move into a three way tie for second place in district, surviving everything Taylor threw at them to win 3-2 and advance to 12-8 on the year and 6-3 in district play.
Chela Kovar continued to impress with her outing on the mound, starting and pitching a complete game, allowing one earned run while striking out six and walking three.
Taylor was the first to get on the board in the game, as Izzy Allen drove in a run on a single in the third inning, but Cinco Ranch came back to tie things in the fourth inning, when Kovar came to the plate and hit a solo home run. Taylor again took the lead in the sixth inning, when Sophia Ybanez hit a sacrifice grounder to make the game 2-1 in favor of the Mustangs.
But the Cougars found a way, and after getting a runner to third in the bottom of the seventh, Madison Royse tied the game on an RBI single, and Faith Piper walked things off when she hit a single to bring in the winning run.
Ari Hughes started at pitcher and went seven innings for Taylor, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking none. The Mustangs record dropped to 12-10-1 overall and 4-5 in district play with the loss.
Paetow earns walk off, extra inning win over Morton Ranch
Paetow earned a huge win on Tuesday over Morton Ranch, coming from behind and walking off in the eighth inning to beat the Mavericks 5-4, as the Panthers improved to 12-15 on the year and 2-7 in district play.
Jade Catherwood was a big part of the win for the Panthers, going 4.2 innings on the mound and allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out one and walking two, while also driving in a runs and hitting the walk off for Panthers, while Samantha Guillory had two RBIs for Paetow on the day.
It took until the fourth inning for either team to get on the board, and it was Morton Ranch that took the lead first, when the Mavericks got two runs on two different errors to take the lead.
Paetow got back into the game in the fifth inning when Guillory drove in two runs on a triple to tie things, but Morton Ranch answered back in the top of the sixth off of a Madison Burciaga double as Morton Ranch went back ahead 3-2. But Paetow again had the response, loading up the bases before Alanna Winters was hit by a pitch, tying the game as it went to extra innings.
Jiselle Lopez handed Morton Ranch another lead in the top of the seventh, hitting a sacrifice fly to drive in Michelle Meeks, who had led off the inning with a triple, but Paetow limited the damage to that. Mia Galarza tied the game with a sacrifice grounder in the bottom of the eighth and then Catherwood doubled, driving in a run to end things and clinch the win for the Panthers.
Lopez started on the mound for Morton Ranch and pitched a complete game, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits while striking out six and walking three. The Mavericks fell to 5-12 on the year and 0-8 in district play with the loss.
