Paetow’s Hicks to announce commitment Wednesday

Posted

DJ Hicks has spent a lot of time figuring out his next steps.

The defensive lineman has been a prized recruit for years, becoming one of the top players in the class of 2023 in the nation and garnering offers from some of the nations best schools.

The Paetow senior has accumulated 39 offers, but has remained patient over the course of his high school career and dwindled down the list to find his collegiate home.

Now on Wednesday, Hicks will make his commitment, choosing from his list of top seven schools to decide where he will spend his collegiate career.

“It’s pretty exciting,” Hicks said. “I’m just excited for it to be here, to commit early and decide my future and let people know where I’m going to go.”

A five star recruit and ranked as the top defensive lineman recruit in the nation, Hicks will choose from a list that includes the University of Texas, Texas A&M University, the University of Oklahoma, the University of Alabama, the University of Oregon, the University of Miami, and Michigan State University as he makes his final decision.

The commitment will be broadcast live on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The senior has already had a huge start to his senior year and will look to keep that going, but he is excited to get to this point and finally enjoy a moment after all of his hard work.

“It feels really good to be able to do this,” Hicks said. It’s like a pressure release for me. It’s been a hectic recruiting process but it’s been a fun process at the same time, I’ve just been trying to have fun with it and enjoy it.”
