“We wanted to come into this and get better,” Rabe said. “You could see it in practice and that carried over into the game. This is playoff season and when you get to this point you need to start playing like a playoff football team. I think we did that tonight.”

Jordan knew it was important to carry momentum into the playoffs.
The Warriors wanted to close out the regular season strong, play a good game and prove to themselves they could dominate other playoff teams before heading to the bi-district round with everything on the line.
Jordan did more than that. The Warriors put together one of their best games of the season in their District 19-6A finale on Thursday, beating Paetow 50-19 behind a strong effort from all three phases and securing second in district.
“It was huge for us to come out and put together a performance like this,” said Jordan head coach Mike Rabe. Paetow has a really good football team and we did not take anything lightly today. But the guys performed really well, they executed so well at the beginning and it set the tone for the rest of the game.”
Jordan set the tone from the beginning of the game and never slowed down. The Warriors got the ball first and went right down the field, scoring on a 14-yard touchdown by Zion Jones. After a Paetow punt the Warriors got the ball back and marched down the field again, adding a touchdown from Tanner West. On the very next play, Paetow muffed a kickoff in the endzone and without a second coming off the clock Kaikane Napoleon dove on the ball to score a touchdown of his own. Beau Bryant added a fourth touchdown before the fourth quarter even ended when he threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Marsh with just over a minute remaining in the quarter. And Paetow added to it in the second quarter with a 28-yard field goal from Sebastian Baptista and a 5-yard touchown from Dominic Cangolosi to Marsh to go into the half with a 36-0 lead.
“This was exactly the kind of game we needed,” said senior linebacker Owen Lindsey. “We closed things out strong, we broke our record for the most wins and we played well against a really good team. We just have to keep this going and do the same thing next week.”
Paetow got on the board on its first drive of the second half when Jackson Farrar threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Ikenna Nwobu, but Jordan answered back when Tanner West ran in a 17-yard touchdown. Paetow added a touchdown in the fourth on a Curtiz Zeno 97 yard run before Jordan scored on a 1-yard run from Patrick Spann and Paetow closed out the scoring on a 66-yard run from Daniel Oladipo.
Overall, the Warriors allowed just over 300 yards of offense, with most of that coming in the second half with backups in. Offensively, Tanner West had 100 total yards and two touchdowns, while Zion Jones rushed for 103 yards and a score. Beau Bryant was very efficient on the day as well, completing seven of eight passes for 74 yards and a score while Andrew Marsh caught five passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
“We wanted to come into this and get better,” Rabe said. “You could see it in practice and that carried over into the game. This is playoff season and when you get to this point you need to start playing like a playoff football team. I think we did that tonight.”
Jordan will get Foster in the bi-district round of the playoffs 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Legacy Stadium. For the Warriors its all about the next step and that is winning their first ever playoff game. They are determined to not let this opportunity go to waste.
“That was one of our best games of the year in terms of all three phases,” Marsh said. “That’s the way you need to play in the playoffs and it was great for us to put this together before we get there. We know that we have this kind of game in us on the offensive side of the ball and I truly think if we play like this that we can play with anyone in the state.”
