HE DID IT!

Katy Triathlon co-chair Paul Kurt confirmed that local triathlete Nico Reyes achieved his goal in the 30th annual Katy Triathlon, held at Cane Island on October 29th.

Haskett Junior High student athlete Nico Reyes realized his dream of being the first child in the world with Down Syndrome to complete a triathlon in the sprint category at just 11 years of age – setting the world record as recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records, Kurt said.

According to an earlier statement by Nico’s father, Christian Reyes, Nico’s next challenge will be the National Triathlon Championship in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2024.
