Tompkins didn’t wallow after losing their first game of the season.

The Falcons faced a stiff test from Taylor, and were held scoreless for five innings, but a 13 run inning from the Falcons helped them bounce back with a huge 13-1 victory after falling to Katy earlier in the week.

Solomon Rotberg earned the victory for Tompkins, going five innings and giving up just one run on three hits while striking out five and walking three.

Taylor took the lead in the first inning, as Hunter Ham hit a sacrifice grounder and the Mustangs would hold that lead until the sixth inning.

But in the sixth, the Falcons bats came alive, and ended things.

The Falcons loaded the bases with no outs to start the inning, and took the lead when two players scored off an error. Cash Russell and Tyler Bronlee then both grounded into  fielders choice’s and both reached off errors making things 5-1 Tompkins with no outs.

Drew Markle hit a sacrifice fly, scoring another run but giving Taylor its first out of the inning and Jack Little then singled to drive in another run. Landon West hit another sacrifice fly, making things 8-1 but also recording the second out, but Taylor then walked in a run and committed an error for three more runs to come across.

Tyler Brownlee then hit a two RBI single to make things 13-1 before the inning ended.

Michael Battista then came in for Tompkins and secured the win to hand Tompkins its 20th win of the season.

Katy shuts out Mayde Creek

Three pitchers clinched a shutout for Katy against Mayde Creek, as the Tigers kept themselves tied for first in district with a 5-0 win.

JR Ceyanes earned the win on the mound for Katy, allowing just two hits over 4.1 innings and striking out five while walking four before the next two pitchers came in and didn’t allow a hit the rest of the way.

Katy took the lead in the second inning, three straight players reached base to start the inning before Parker Kidwell hit a sacrifice fly and two more Katy players scored on wild pitches.

Parker Kidwell then increased the Tigers lead in the fourth with an RBI single, before he came around to score on another error, making things 5-0, and Mayde Creek couldn’t answer the rest of the way.

Seven Lakes tops Morton Ranch

Seven Lakes used a big first inning and a strong pitching performance to beat Morton Ranch 11-2 and keep themselves in playoff contention as we head towards the back half of district.

Paden Reynolds threw four innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five to earn the win and keep Morton Ranch at bay.

The Spartans jumped ahead early, as Carlos Michinaux hit an RBI single in the first before Won Lee followed that up with a two run single. Jack Coultas continued the run of singles and made things 5-0 after one inning by driving in two more. Morton Ranch got one back in the second, as Jacob Pittman scored on a balk, but Seven Lakes responded, holding the Mavericks scoreless the next three innings and Seven Lakes extended the lead on a Cade Climie sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Morton Ranch again trimmed the lead to four in the bottom of the sixth, as Pitman hit an RBI double, but Seven Lakes offense came alive in the seventh.

Three runners reached to start the inning and all three came around to score on a Jake Steffes single. Jack Coultas hit an RBI single and then Brayden Phillips scored on an error to cap off the scoring for the Spartans and give Seven Lakes the win.

Paetow tops Waller

Paetow got a big win over Waller, 11-8, in an important matchup for the Panthers.

Waller jumped out to a three run lead in the second, before Paetow answered back in the bottom of the inning.

Gabriel Velasquez hit a two RBI double after three straight runners reached base to start the inning, but that was all the damage they could do in the inning.

The Panthers kept going though and tied things in the third when Paul Gerke hit an RBI single and then they took the lead on a Gabriel Velasquez single before Jakob Scott did the same things to make things 5-3 Paetow.

Tyler Sivles hit an RBI double in the fourth to make it a three run lead for the Panthers and Paetow scored two more in the fifth on an error before Josh Prieto hit another RBI single. Waller responded with a grand slam to trim the lead to two, before Paetow got two more runs on a passed ball and a Velasquez. Waller got one more run in the seventh but it wasn’t enough as Paetow clinched the victory.

Jordan nearly had a four run lead erased but was able to hang on for a win over Brenham.

Brenham got one run in each of the first and second innings before Jordan came away with a huge inning in the third. C Carmichael tied things when he hit a two RBI single before W Roby gave Jordan the lead on a sacrifice groundout. Another run scored on an error before Chad Gasper hit an RBI single and Jordan got another run on an error to make things 6-2.
