The University Interscholastic League released their snapshot numbers for ever Texas public school last Tuesday, which had all of Katy ISD’s numbers, including Katy Freeman, which will open next school year.
Cinco Ranch jumped up to the highest enrollment numbers in the school district with 3,790 students, the Cougars had the second most students in the school district in the last realignment and jumped to the top, surpassing Seven Lakes by adding over 300 students.
Paetow made the biggest jump in the school district, adding nearly 600 students in the process, going from 3,169 in 2021 to 3,746 students and moving up three spots to the second most students in the school district. Cinco Ranch and Paetow will be locked into Class 6A-Division I if they make the playoffs in football by having the two most students in the school district.
Seven Lakes dropped two spots to the third most students in the district, Seven Lakes added nearly 150 students but Paetow and Cinco Ranch both added more to move in front. Seven Lakes enrollment figures will be at 3,591 students.
Katy stayed at No. 4 in terms of its enrollment figures. The Tigers went from 3,197 students to 3,520 this year. Taylor followed up in fifth with 3,209.5 students moving up one place from having the sixth most students last time around with realignment. Jordan will have the sixth most students in the school district, with 3,133 while Tompkins went from the third most students to the seventh most, with the Falcons realignment numbers being at 3,071. Mayde Creek followed closely after Tompkins with 3,025.5 students, finishing with the eighth most, while Morton Ranch again finished with the least numbers in the school district with 2,863 students in this round of realignment.
Freeman, which will open next school year, finished with an enrollment figure of 861.84.
The number figures mean it is likely that Katy ISD will continue to have an All-Katy ISD nine team district for sports, Freeman will not be put in an athletic district until 2026.
