Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Drobnitch (87) of Katy, passed away on February 11, 2026, while under care at a skilled nursing facility in Katy. Born on June 3rd, 1938, in Greeley, CO to Joseph and Erma Drobnitch, Larry graduated high school in Pueblo, CO, and went on to college at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physics. He relocated to the Houston area while working for Westinghouse in 1970 and built his career selling instrumentation and specialty industrial equipment to petro-chemical plants along the Gulf Coast.
In his retirement years, Larry enjoyed playing bridge with friends, supporting the Houston Opera as a season ticket holder, reading science fiction novels, and traveling to his two favorite destinations – Las Vegas and New Orleans. He is survived by Mary Ann, his wife of 62 years of marriage; daughter Laura Vickers and her husband David and two grandsons Jack and Justin; and son Paul Drobnitch and his wife Mojdeh and two grandsons John and Pierce.
A funeral mass will be held on April 18th, 2026, at 1:00pm at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, followed by a graveside service at 2:30pm at Katy Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association by visiting www.alz.org.
