It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Kyle Jenkins Callender, who left this world peacefully at home on August 28, 2026.
Born on November 26, 1975, in Houston, Texas, Kyle was a vibrant soul whose life was a testament to warmth, kindness, and boundless enthusiasm. Kyle was the cherished son of Doyle G. Callender and Kay Jenkins Callender, who survive him.
He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Thelma and John F. “Dude” Callender, O.M. and Willie Mae Jenkins, his Uncle John R. Callender, and his Aunts Linda Swinney and Sharon Jenkins, all of whom undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into eternal rest.
A proud graduate of Katy High School, Kyle went on to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University in the class of 1999. His professional life started with Centerpoint Energy in Houston, Texas for 15 years and then formed his own consulting firm, KJC Consulting. Kyle spent most of his professional life in Houston, a place he called home and where he built lasting relationships and made countless memories.
Kyle’s life was enriched by his many interests. He was an avid collector with a passion for fossils, rocks, coins, and stamps. His love for Texas history and travel was rivaled only by his artistic talents, as he found joy and peace in painting. He took immense pride in his heritage, being a member of Austin’s Old 300 families.
With his boundless energy and ever-present smile, Kyle never met a stranger. His warmth and kindness left a mark on everyone he encountered, and he was known for his ability to light up a room with his presence.
Kyle leaves behind his wife, Megan Gail Callender, and three beloved children: Case Jenkins Callender, Caitlin Susan Callender and Avery Kay Callender. His memory will also be cherished by his brother, John Kennelly Callender and his wife Catherine, and Kyle’s former wife, Melanie Callender, who remain grateful for the moments they shared with him.
A service to honor Kyle’s life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Katy First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to Texas A&M Mays Business School, Keep Katy Beautiful, Katy First United Methodist Church or Austin’s Old 300.
