James Lynch “J.L.” Rose Jr., passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021. He died peacefully of natural causes while at home with his wife Bessie. J.L. was born on July 5, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to James Lynch “Jim” Rose Sr., and Audrey Inez Montgomery Rose. J. L. grew on the Katy prairie south of town and attended Katy High School. He married Bessie Ann Sturm on June 22, 1963, in Katy and they had four children, David, Brian, Diane, and Brenda.
J.L. was a talented equipment operator and industrial equipment designer with two patents to his credit. He worked as a rice farmer, bridge constructor, pipeline equipment manufacturer and retired from the Brookshire-Katy Drainage District after working for many years as field manager.
J.L. leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Bessie Ann Sturm Rose; son Brian Rose and wife Kara; daughters Diane Moore and Brenda Kolek; and daughter-in-law Karen Rose; grandchildren Evelyn, Daniel, Faith, and Carolyn Rose, Kolby Parker, Katherine Moore, Tyler and Stephen Kolek, and Carson and Madison Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents; son David Rose; son-in-law James Kolek; and sister Audrey Rose Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, with Rev. Dottie Dumas officiating. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
