Improvements continue at Katy’s historic rice dryers
No Label Brewing Company at 5351 First Street in Katy has completed the repainting of “Murkey’s Silo” at the historic rice dryers along U.S. 90 in Katy. The local brewery first reported the facelift to the landmark structure on their Facebook page on August 17, saying that the project was a step in “getting ready for what’s next.” The rice silo originally belonged to B. Ray Woods, according to Adrienne Davitz, president of the Katy Heritage Society. The landmark has been referred to as “Murkey’s” since No Label began hosting “The Murkies,” an annual industry bash celebrating the Texas craft beer community
