Race Rock, a leading nationwide manufacturer and distributor of steel infrastructure products for the utility, highway, and energy markets, held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 13 to begin its $100 million expansion in the area. The new manufacturing facility will build transmission and substation structures essential to the country’s infrastructure needs. The ceremony, which took place across Wilson Road from Race Rock at 34253 Wilson in Brookshire, included elected officials, company representatives and community members.
The new facility will be constructed adjacent to Race Rock’s existing manufacturing operations in Brookshire, founded in 1988 as Orizon Industries and acquired by Race Rock in 2025. When the new facility is completed, the combined campus will span approximately 100 acres, including over 750,000 square feet under roof, and provide jobs for more than 500 highly skilled employees in Waller County. Speaking at the groundbreaking, Donald Young, Chairman and CEO of Race Rock, said, “Our commitment here is more than just the construction of a new manufacturing facility. It’s our pledge to our customers and our employees. We have a reputation for providing products with outstanding quality delivered on time. The new facility will enable us to continue that legacy into the future.”
Brookshire and Waller County were selected because of the growing construction of residential and multi-family residences, retail operations, medical expansion, and manufacturing, company officials said. Vince Yokom, Executive Director of the Waller County Economic Development Partnership, thanked Race Rock. “I am very honored that Race Rock chose Waller County for the new expansion. The company had other options within and outside of Texas,” Yokum said. “I do want to congratulate the entire Race Rock team on their continued investment in Waller County.”
“Economic development is not just about industrial expansion,” said Waller County Judge Trey Duhon. “It’s about bringing good-paying jobs to our community and giving residents the opportunity to build careers and lives here at home, and that’s exactly what we’re celebrating today,” “Race Rock is helping to build opportunity for generations to come.”
Across its production facilities, Race Rock’s experienced teams draw on industry expertise and local knowledge to deliver high-quality products and exceptional support to customers building and maintaining infrastructure.
Brookshire Mayor Robert commented on Race Rock's impact on the Brookshire community. “We value companies like Race Rock that can deliver good-paying, solid jobs,” said Richards. “I’m proud of the partnership that we have developed with this company.”
In closing, Young said, “Our investments will strengthen our ability to provide the capacity, quality, and reliability our customers expect while supporting their long-term needs. We value hard work, integrity, and community development as the foundation for strong collaboration between communities and industry.”
