On October 7, Dunkin’, formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts, announced plans for a new restaurant to open in Katy this month. Located at 136 Cane Island Parkway in Katy, the new restaurant will feature Dunkin’s modern Next Generation design, offering residents and commuters a more convenient way to run on Dunkin’ and enjoy their favorite coffee and baked goods. Official opening details will be shared in the coming weeks.

The new 1,850 square-foot restaurant will employ approximately 25 crew members and will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Exciting elements of the new Next Generation restaurant experience at the Katy location will include:

· Premium pours: Dunkin’s signature cold beverages are poured through an innovative tap system, serving a variety of consistently cold sips, such as iced coffee, iced tea, Cold Brew, and Nitro-Infused Cold Brew (a Next Gen exclusive). Crew members also use top-quality, flavor-maximizing espresso machines to make handcrafted drinks to order.

· Modern design: The openness, colors, and materials used in the design help create an approachable, positive, and energetic environment. Just one example of the eye-catching design elements that guests can expect is a front-facing bakery case for an even closer look at our delicious baked goods.

· Increased energy efficiency: The new Dunkin’ is a DD Green Achievement restaurant, which is designed to save 25% more energy compared to a standard Dunkin’ restaurant.

The story of Dunkin’ began in 1948 with a donut and coffee restaurant in Quincy, Massachusetts called “Open Kettle.” Founder William Rosenberg served donuts for five cents and premium cups of coffee for ten cents. After a brainstorming session with his executives, Rosenberg renamed his restaurant “Dunkin’ Donuts” in 1950. His goal was to “make and serve the freshest, most delicious coffee and donuts quickly and courteously in modern, well-merchandised stores,” a philosophy which still holds true today.
