Your ‘special pal’ is waiting for you at Oct. 17 pet adoption and community event

In partnership with Special Pals, Katy Honda will host a pet adoption and community event on October 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 21001 Katy Freeway in Katy. Families and community groups are welcome to stop by and enjoy great food from food trucks and to test-drive a Honda for a $25 donation. The event will introduce you to adoptable pets waiting to make their forever home with you and your family.

Get a better understanding of Medicare at Cinco Ranch Branch Library on Oct. 17

Adults approaching Medicare eligibility, Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, and family members wanting a better understanding of how Medicare works can attend a free seminar at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library in Katy on Oct. 17. The seminar — “Turning 65? What You Need to Know Before You Enroll” — will take place in the Multipurpose Room from 2 – 4 p.m., led by health insurance agent Stephanie Calvillo, who emphasized it is especially beneficial to people enrolling in Medicare for the first time.

The seminar will cover several topics, including when to enroll in Medicare, Medicare and employer coverage, how to avoid enrollment penalties, coverage options, enrollment deadlines, and frequently asked questions. Because the seminar is educational, there won’t be a sales presentation or plan enrollments. Attendees are under no obligation to enroll in any insurance product or service.
