Husband-and-wife hospitality team Zack and Carmen Kuru have announced the upcoming opening of PERA Cocktails and Kitchen, an upscale-casual cocktail bar expected to welcome guests in mid-November 2026 in Katy.


With years of experience in the Houston-area restaurant and bar industry, the Kurus are no strangers to creating gathering places for their communities. Their previous ventures include Drix, Bricco and Midpoint Bar in the Katy area, as well as BeerForest in The Woodlands. PERA is a concept the couple has envisioned for years: a smaller, more intimate destination where guests can enjoy thoughtfully crafted cocktails, a curated selection of light bites and a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere.

“PERA has been a long time coming for us,” said Zack and Carmen Kuru. “We’ve always wanted to create a place that feels special without being formal — a beautiful, comfortable space where people can meet for a cocktail, share a few bites and enjoy good company. After years in the hospitality business, we’re excited to finally bring this vision to life.”

Designed with an understated sense of elegance, PERA will offer an inviting alternative to the traditional bar experience, combining the warmth of a neighborhood gathering place with the atmosphere of an intimate, upscale lounge. Alongside its cocktail menu, PERA will pour an extensive wine list and serve small plates and cheese boards made for sharing.

For the Kurus, opening PERA also marks an exciting opportunity to connect with a new community.

“We’ve spent so many years serving guests in Katy, where we call home and where we raised our two kids, both recent graduates of Taylor High School,” the Kurus said. “We’re incredibly grateful for the relationships we’ve built along the way. Now we’re looking forward to becoming part of another community in West Houston and creating a place people will enjoy returning to.”
