Barnes & Noble opening set for late January
The Barnes & Noble Booksellers location in the Greentree Shopping Center at 435 S. Fry Road in Katy is scheduled to open on January 28, according to the company’s website. The bookstore is taking over the 22,000 sq. ft. space previously occupied by Party City in the shopping center, which also houses Target, TJ Maxx and other retailers. Barnes & Noble announced in 2024 that it would open 60 stores nationwide, following several years of shrinking. The chain said in an article on The Real Deal Real Estate News that it opened more stores in 0204 than in the entire decade between 2009 and 2019, when it sold to hedge fund Elliott Management for $475 million cash. .
