Cinco Ranch got into an offensive thriller with Tompkins on Friday, as both teams filled up the scoresheet in a 14-11 win for Cinco Ranch that kept the Cougars second in district with a 13-8 overall and 7-3 in district play

Madison Rosario and Chela Kovar were hue for the Cougars in the win, with both driving in four runs in the win to lead Cinco. Kovar also went four innings on the mound in the thriller, allowing seven earned runs over four innings on 10 hits, while striking out and walking three each.

Gissel Morales gave Cinco the lead in the first inning when she hit an RBI double but Morgan Brown tied it in the bottom of the first when she hit a sacrifice fly, followed up by a Cami Hearn single as the Falcons went up 2-1.

Cinco tied the game on an error in the second before Kovar hit a solo home run to give the Coguars the lead in the third followed up by a Sophie Hassall RBI single. Tompkins came back with a big third inning themselves though, Leah Gershman tied the game with a two-run double, Rachael Foit gave Tompkins the lead on an RBI single, Gershman came around to score on an error and Avery Andry hit a single to put Tompkins up 7-4.

Kovar came out and hit a solo home run again in the top of the fourth and Cinco continued to chip away with Madison Royse grounding into a double play but bringing in a run in the process.

Tompkins scored twice more in the bottom of the inning, getting one run on an error and another off a Gershman single, but Cinco answered back in the top of the fifth. Morales drew a bases loaded walk before Kovar drove in two on a single to tie the game and Royse drove in two more on a single of her own to give the Cougars an 11-9 lead.

Tompkins was unable to get on the board after that until the seventh inning. But the Falcons found a way to tie things in the bottom of the seventh, as Tayden Aleander grounded into a fielders choice to drive in a run and a run scored off an error to tie the game.

Cinco went back ahead in the top of the eighth when Faith Piper drove in a run, and Morales gave the Cougars two more insurance runs with a two-run home run. Cinco then didn’t allow a run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the extra inning win.

Samantha Crumrin started on the mound for Tompkins and went 5.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on 12 hits while striking out two and walking one, Gershman led the Falcons with three RBIs. Tompkins fell to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in district play with the loss.

Mayde Creek shuts out Paetow

Mayde Creek earned a big win over Paetow on Friday to get back into a tie for second place in district, beating the Panthers 7-0 to move to 12-6-1 overall and 7-3 in district play.

Alyssa Gonzalez pitched a shutout for Mayde Creek, going seven innings and allowing just three hits over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two. Julissa Aquino and Anessa Nycole-Ocanas led the Rams with two RBIs each in the game.

The Rams got on the board in the third inning, when Debanhi Carrizales ot an RBI on a fielders choice and Aquino followed that up with an RBI single of her own. They kept things going getting another run on a stropped third strike before getting two more when Ocanas drove in two on a fielders choice and then another off an error making the game 6-0 Rams after three. The Rams added another in the bottom of the sixth when Aquino drove in a run on a single, and Gonzalez didn’t allow a run in the seventh to clinch the win.

Shy’Lynn Brown started on the mound and went 2.1 winnings for Paetow, allowing three earned runs on hour hits while striking out five and walking three. Paetow fell to 12-16 overall and 2-8 in district play with the loss.

Abel’s big day leads Seven Lakes past Taylor

Seven Lakes continued its surge up the district rankings on Friday, beating the Mustangs -3 to improve to 9-12 this season and 5-4 in district play.

Ashley Abel led the way offensively, driving in five runs on three hits in what was a huge day for the senior, and Amy Abke kept up a her superb senior season, pitching 6.2 no hit innings, striking out 15 and walking two in the win.

Dulce Franco gave Seven Lakes the lead in the first inning on an RBI single and Abel made things 3-0 in the fourth inning when she hit a two-run home run.

The Spartans broke things open in the fifth inning, Sarah Petree drove in a run off a single and Franco doubled to bring around another, Emma Wingate drove in a run off a single and Ashley Abel hit a two-run home run to increase the Spartans lead to 8-0. Abel then hit a double in the top of the seventh, driving in a ninth run for the Spartans. Sophia Ybanez hit a three run double in the bottom of the seventh for Taylor but that was all the Mustangs could get in the loss.

Ari Hughes pitched a complete game for Taylor, allowing four earned runs on 14 hits while striking out one and walking none. Taylor fell to 12-11-1 on the year and 4-6 in district play with the loss.

Katy run rules Morton Ranch

Katy had two pitchers combine for a strong day on the mound, allowing just one hit in a shutout 15-0 win over Morton Ranch as the Tigers improved to 23-3 overall and 10-0 in district play.

Cameryn Harrison led the way offensively for Katy, driving in four runs, while Lauryn Soeken drove in four runs as well while also earning the win on the mound, striking out five and walking one without allowing a hit over three innings.

Smith started the day strong for Katy in the first inning, driving in two on a double and Soeken followed that up with a grand slam to increase Katy’s lead to 6-0.

Smith started the scoring in the second inning as well, driving in a run on a double and Harrison followed that up with a double of her own, katy then got a third run in the inning off an error. Harrison then hit a home run in the top of the fourth to drive in three more runs. Brooke Fenchner made it 14-0 in the fourth, hitting an inside the park home run that drove in two and Ashtyn Reichardt hit a solo home run in the fifth to put the game to bed. Jiselle Lopez started the game at pitcher for Morton Ranch and went five innings, allowing seven earned runs while striking out one and walking five. Morton Ranch fell to 5-12 and 0-8 in district with the loss.
