The entry deadline was September 21, and selected entries will be promptly notified, and line-up locations will be assigned on or before September 30, according to the website. In a statement on its website the City encourages all parade entries to decorate floats and vehicles, notably with rice or a historic or Katy theme.

There will be trophies three categories, including “Best Use of Rice,” “Best in Show” and “Most Creative.” The parade judging will occur in the staging area where winners will be announced and trophies awarded prior to the start of the parade.

The parade lineup starts at 7:30 a.m. in the Katy Church of Christ parking lot on East Avenue north of Fifth Street.
