One Katy area resident got some real kicks out of her birthday celebration.
Lorraine Hudson, a resident of Heritage Park of Katy at 6001 George Bush Drive in Katy, celebrated her 94th birthday in style on August 18. As a member of the tenth line of the Kilgore College Rangerettes from 1949 to 1950, the famous drill team from Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas, Lorraine was joined by three Rangerette Forevers to help celebrate her birthday at a surprise party. The Kilgore College Rangerette Forevers, through their Foundation, serve as the alumni association for this unique group of ladies.
The Rangerettes were formed in 1939 by the famous choreographer and Director Gussie N. Davis and garnered world-wide fame for their performances in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, the Rose Bowl parade, the Cotton Bowl, Sugar bowl, and numerous other national and international venues. The Rangerettes are the world's best-known collegiate drill team, traveling all over the United States, and on several world tours since the 1970s.
Hudson is originally from Henderson, Texas. She has one son, Bart Dawson of Katy, two granddaughters -- Caitlyn and Heather -- and one great-granddaughter Kamyden.
