‘Put a Ring on It:’ First Christian Church to offer free weddings in honor of ten years of marriage equality

This June marks ten years since marriage equality became the law of the land, and First Christian Church is throwing a celebration to remember. “ ‘Put a Ring on It’ is a joyful, affirming event where up to ten queer couples will receive a free wedding—complete with everything you need to say ‘I do’ in style,” according to the church’s website at fcckaty.org.

The wedding package – with ceremonies slated for June 21 – will include:

· A wedding ceremony in the beautifully decorated sanctuary

· Professional photography

· A cake and champagne reception for up to 25 guests

· And a chance to win a honeymoon in Costa Rica including lodging, courtesy of Woodlands Pride

The application deadline is May 15 and selected couples will be notified by May 31. Register at fcckaty,org/ring. The event will be held in collaboration with the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce and other affirming partners.

“We created this event to honor the power of love and to make space for LGBTQ+ couples to be seen, celebrated and affirmed,” according to the website. “Whether you’re newly engaged or have been waiting for the right moment, we would be honored to be part of your story.”

First Christian Church Katy is the only LGBTQ+ affirming church in Katy, believing that faith and inclusion belong together. The church is located at 22101 Morton Ranch Road, Katy.
