Just one year after launching the Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4 project, Commissioner Lesley Briones held a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 6 to celebrate the completion of nearly 23 miles of new sidewalks in Katy Independent School District. The project focused on the construction of sidewalks near schools, community centers and houses of worship within Harris County Precinct 4.
The event, hosted by the Katy Independent School District at the Legacy Stadium field house at 1830 Katyland Drive in Katy, included remarks by Superintendent Ken Gregorski and Milton Rahman, Executive Director of the Office of the County Engineer for Harris County. The dais was also shared by students from Miller Career Center, who thanked precinct and school officials for the project.
With a $20 million investment, the Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4 program is improving safe access to schools, healthcare providers, businesses, parks, and transit stops. Guided by data and resident input, Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4 delivers infrastructure that meets community needs, enhances quality of life, and expands opportunities for all.
Briones said that plans for additional future sidewalk construction will be announced soon.
