Katy ISD was once again well represented by the United Soccer Coaches Association, having three student-athletes named Soccer All-Americans, with two of them coming from Seven Lakes and one from Jordan.

For Seven Lakes it was a time to celebrate two time selections, as both Aiden Morrison and Ben Aviles Vera were named to the team for the second straight year. They were joined by Jordan’s Marcelo Ojeda, who was named to the team for the first time as a junior.

Morrison and Aviles Vera led Seven Lakes on a historic run this year, helping the Spartans clinch a district championship, a third straight state appearance and a second straight state title. Both were named All-State and Morrison was named the Teas Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year. Seven Lakes went 28-1-1 on the year and Morrison scored 16 goals and added 20 assists on the season, also scoring the game winning goal in the state title game with just three minutes remaining in extra time.

Vera helped Seven Lakes to the state title by being the anchor of a defense that allowed just 16 goals all season and he was huge in the playoffs and state tournament to help lead the Spartans to their second straight state title.

Ojeda was the spearhead of Jordan’s attack this year and helped the Warriors reach the playoffs for the third straight year and earn upsets in the first two rounds of the playoffs before Jordan also took Seven Lakes all the way to penalties in the third round of the playoffs.

Seven Lakes was one of the only schools in the nation to have two players named All-Americans and Katy ISD was one of the only school districts to have three different players named All-Americans.
