This Veterans Day, Garland McMeans National Junior Honor Society students will set up a field of flags at the campus at 21000 Westheimer Parkway in Katy in partnership with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to honor local veterans and to raise critical funds to support the nation’s injured heroes. The project was announced in the school’s October 19 e-newsletter.
Each donated flag represents a special veteran in someone’s life, with proceeds DAV and the charity’s free, professional services for veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors. The flags will be displayed in front of the campus the week of Veterans Day November 11.
This year’s goal is for the school to raise $500.00 for the DAV, the newsletter said.
To purchase a flag for the field, visit the McMeans DAV Field of Honor Flags Page at https://support.dav.org/participants/McMeansNJHS. Donors who contribute $100.00 or more will receive a t-shirt directly from the DAV, according to the donation site.
