Parents of Katy ISD students who believe their children are eligible for gifted and talented programs have two deadlines approaching. Parents of students in first through fourth grades must submit appropriate documentation by Oct. 30 while students in sixth through 11th grades must have documentation turned in by Nov. 20, according to a KISD press release.
Parents of students in first through fourth grades must visit the KISD website to download an Elementary GT Program Parent Checklist form. Once completed, the form should be submitted to their child’s campus’ Challenge teacher. Checklists not received in time will not be screened for service until next school year.
Parents of freshmen through junior grade students will be eligible to submit a screening request from Nov. 1 through Nov. 20 to have their student placed in the Katy Advanced Program and advanced placement classes. More information is available on the Katy ISD GT and Advanced Academics webpage.
To find out more, parents should reach out to elementary Challenge teachers or GT facilitators at their children’s respective campuses.
