Seth Davis was named the District 19-6A MVP Katy ISD announced Tuesday.
The Katy running back ended the season with 2,454 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns during a monstrous junior year where he helped lead the Tigers to the Class 6A-Division II state semifinals.
Davis averaged over 10 yards per carry and 170 yards on the ground per game as Katy went undefeated in district to reclaim the district crown after Tompkins had won it last season.
Gavin Rutherford was named offensive player of the year in the district after a breakout campaign.
The junior quarterback threw for 2,752 yards and 29 touchdowns to just five interceptions in 13 games.
He led Cinco Ranch by averaging over 211 yards per game and completed over 63% of his passes on the year, he finished the season with a 120 quarterback rating. Rutherford did it with his legs as well, rushing for 401 yards and 11 touchdowns on the year.
Katy’s Ky Kana was named defensive player of the year. The senior linebacker helped lead the Tigers to the state semifinal game.
Keegan Sneedan was named the special teams player of the year for the district. The Seven Lake kicker had a strong senior season, making nine of 14 field goals on the year with a long of 46 yards. He also made 27 of his 29 extra points and ended the year with 54 points.
Tompkins do it all sophomore, Wyatt Young, was named the district’s newcomer of the year. Young caught 40 passes for 670 yards and six touchdowns and also rushed for 539 yards and 14 touchdowns as Tompkins advanced to the third round in the Class 6A-Division I playoffs. Young finished the season with 1,209 all-purpose yards and averaged 93 yards per game.
Cinco Ranch’s Chris Dudley was named the coach of the year in the district after leading the Cougars to the Class 6A-Division II Regional Semifinals after winning just one game in the previous two seasons.
