The Katy Branch Library’s summer reading program, “Unearth a Story,” begins on June 1, and will be offering a wonderful variety of programming for kids, teens, and adults. Earn prizes for reading – for every 100 points logged, reach a new level and earn a prize, which may be picked up at the library by August 8. Register online at hcpl.beanstack.org.

On Friday, June 26, the library, located at 5414 Franz Road in Katy, will be hosting Bright Star Theatre for a children’s program called “Dino Academy: A Dinosaur Discovery Show,” which blends science and storytelling to uncover interesting dinosaur facts. In July the library will be offering “Historical Crafting: Traditional Quilting,” an adult program in which participants will learn about historical quilt blocks and will make a nine-patch quilt block to take home. The library will also be hosting the Texas America250 exhibit throughout the month of July. This traveling exhibit from The Texas State Library and Archives commission is a great way to learn and celebrate Texas history.
