Aga’s Restaurant & Catering, one of the country’s most acclaimed Indian-Pakistani restaurants, opened its first new location in 25 years on June 24, bringing its celebrated cuisine to one of the region’s fastest-growing communities. Located in Katy at NewQuest’s The Shoppes at Grand Crossing development at the southwest corner of Interstate 10 and the Grand Parkway (102 W. Grand Parkway S., Suite 100), Aga’s To Go is a dedicated takeout concept designed to meet growing demand from customers in west Houston. The 4,300-square-foot location was purpose-built for convenience, offering guests a streamlined way to enjoy Aga’s most popular dishes closer to home.
While the 108-item menu is more concise than the zabiha halal restaurant’s expansive flagship offerings, it features the signature dishes that have earned Aga’s widespread adoration and acclaim, including its renowned lamb chops, kababs, boti, biryani, curries, and freshly baked breads.
The new Katy location represents a significant milestone for the family-owned business and the first phase of a broader growth strategy. Following the opening of Aga’s To Go in Katy, the company plans to launch a second takeout-only restaurant by early 2027, with details to be announced at a later date.
“This new location is a direct response to the growth of our business and the tremendous support we’ve received from customers throughout Katy and west Houston,” said Zain Maredia, Aga’s head of growth and strategy. “Many of our guests make a considerable drive to enjoy Aga’s, and we’re excited to bring our food closer to them while creating new opportunities for our team and our company. Katy has been one of our strongest customer bases for years, making it a natural next step as we continue to grow.”
The opening marks the latest chapter in the success story of the Maredia family, which acquired Aga’s in 2010 and transformed it into one of the most celebrated restaurant brands in Texas. Led by CEO Shaukat Maredia and his brothers Karim Maredia, Saleem Maredia, and Sadique Maredia, the family expanded the business, built a thriving catering division, and grew the original Wilcrest Drive location into a 16,200-square-foot dining destination that serves thousands of guests daily.
Today, Aga’s is widely regarded as one of North America’s premier Indian-Pakistani restaurants. The restaurant was recently awarded the No. 1 spot on the Houston Chronicle’s prestigious Top 100 Restaurants list, has earned a place on Yelp’s annual Top 100 Restaurants list, was featured in The New York Times’ roundup of “The 26 Best Dishes We Ate Across the U.S. in 2024,” and was just highlighted by Food & Wine in its feature on Houston as “The Most Exciting Place to Eat in America Right Now.”
Locally, community engagement has been central to that growth. Aga’s is currently in its fifth year of providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. This year, the
company awarded $100,000 in scholarships to 25 students from across greater Houston, including many from Katy.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received over the years,” Maredia said. “Houston has embraced our food, our family, and our story. Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and we’re excited to continue sharing that experience with even more guests through our new Katy location.”
