Harris County has reported its first case of measles since 2019, according to health officials quoted by ABC 13.
The television news station’s story said that a measles case involving a child under 18 who lives in northwest Harris County is being investigated by Harris County Public health. The child has no travel history, the station said.
HCPH is also conducting contact tracing investigation to identify individuals who may have come into contact with the child.
Harris County Public Health, Legacy Health Systems, and Texas Children’s Hospital previously offered free measles vaccines in early March to ensure community members are protected against the highly contagious disease.
