Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones and her infrastructure department have completed work on six intersections in western Harris County in the greater Katy area, department spokesperson Brittany Little told the Katy Times. The locations are:

· Fry Road and Morton Ranch Road

· Mason Road and Highland Knolls Drive

· South Fry Boulevard and Westgreen Boulevard

· South Fry Road and Westheimer Parkway

· Greenhouse Road and Park Row

· Morton Ranch Rd at Old Katy Hockley Cut Off Rd.

The projects included upgrades to roadway and drainage systems that improve traffic flow and reduce congestion near neighborhoods and shopping centers.

“This will create better traffic conditions in your community,” Little told the Katy Times in an April 23 email. The projects are part of Briones’ commitment to advance safety and connectivity.

The Katy Times posed these questions to Harris County Precinct 4:

These projects are located along Harris County’s High Injury Network, which are corridors and intersections with high rates of pedestrian fatalities and severe injuries. They have been prioritized as part of Commissioner Lesley Briones’ commitment to the Vision Zero Initiative, which seeks to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030. The projects improve safety for individuals of all ages and abilities, including those who rely on walking, biking, or transit. In addition to advancing equitable access, these improvements will help reduce travel times, ease congestion, and strengthen the resilience of Precinct 4's overall transportation network.
