Continuing its mission of encouraging literacy through the arts, Books Alive! is currently on its spring/summer tour with a performance of “The Ballerina with Webbed Feet,” which is coming to the Cinco Ranch Branch Library in June.

Books Alive! is a professional touring company with a skilled writing team that creates original musicals by working with authors of children’s books, and adapting those stories into fully staged, original 45-minute musicals for schools, hospitals, libraries, and youth organizations throughout the Houston metroplex.

On Monday, June 8, from 3 to 3:45 p.m. and 4 to 4:45 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library, Books Alive! will bring the cherished bilingual children’s book to life for children in grades 1 - 5.

“The Ballerina with Webbed Feet” by Pam Von Scoyoc is the story of a duck that desires to be a ballerina, despite having webbed feet. It’s a tale about failure and triumphs, inclusion and self-acceptance, setbacks and inspiration, and friendship and resilience.

Space is limited, so free tickets are required for entry and will be handed out one hour prior to each session. Please note that late admittance is not allowed. The Cinco Ranch Branch Library is located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.

This free program is made possible by Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. For more information, call Cinco Ranch Branch Library’s Youth Services Department at 281-633-4606 or visit www.fortbendlibraries.gov.
