Katy ISD had four players named to the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Team after another great year from the district where teams made it all the way to the highest level in Texas High School Volleyball.

Cinco Ranch’s Kassie O’Brien, Makenna Loo and Gabi Martinez and Tompkins’ Brooklynn Merrell were all named to the Class 6A All-State team after leading their teams to top finishes in district and deep in the playoffs.

O’Brien was named to the third tam as setter, as the lone setter. She finished the year with 1385 assists, 388 digs, 137 kills, 25 aces and 22 blocks. Merrell was also named to the third team as a libero. Merrell had 496 digs, 134 assists, 102 aces and six kills on the season.

Both Martinez and Loo were named to the honorable mention team as well. Martinez had 523 kills, 436 digs, 39 assists, 23 blocks and 15 aces on the year, while Loo had 380 kills, 347 digs, 17 blocks, 45 assists and nine aces.

Grand Oaks swept the coach and player of the year, with Samara Coleman won player of the year and Morgan Rogers won coach of the year after winning a state title over Cinco Ranch.
