The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting online applications and nominations for its Fall 2025 Citizens Police Academy. Persons interested in learning about the internal operations and various community programs administered by the Sheriff’s Office are invited to attend an 11-week orientation course.

The itinerary includes presentations by division commanders and program managers held each Thursday evening, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy, located at 1521 Eugene Heimann Circle, Richmond.

Participants will tour Sheriff’s Office facilities, including Detention Center, and will visit the Justice Center, patrol, criminal investigations, the 9-1-1 Communications Center, Homeland Security, narcotics investigations, and the training division.

There is no cost to attend the Citizens Police Academy and 35 participants will be selected.

Applications will be accepted through 4 p.m. on August 25, 2025. The Citizens Police Academy will begin on September 4 and end on November 20.

The focus of the program is to provide an overview of the criminal justice system and various functions of the Sheriff’s Office through classroom presentations and practical hands-on experiences. Participants will also meet with members of the executive command, including Sheriff Eric Fagan.

Qualified applicants will be at least 18 years of age and not have a criminal arrest record.
