Fort Bend County honors leaders in child advocacy, military service, and AANHPI Heritage at proclamations ceremony

On May 15 Fort Bend County Judge KP George hosted a special Proclamation Day ceremony recognizing the extraordinary individuals and organizations that contribute to the county's safety, service, and cultural strength.

Held at the Fort Bend County commissioners court, the event honored the following observances and leaders:

· Child Abuse Prevention Month: Though delayed due to scheduling, April was officially proclaimed Child Abuse Prevention Month. Chimezie Eke, Region 6 Faith-Based and Community Engagement Coordinator, accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Department of Family and Protective Services.

· Child Advocacy Recognition: The County acknowledged The Santee & Associates Foundation for over two decades of work supporting vulnerable children and families impacted by bullying, abuse, and trafficking.

· Military Appreciation Month: Honorees included retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Vladimir Hidrovo-Alban, whose deployments span from Desert Storm to recent hurricane and border operations, and Thomas Lee, recognized for his exemplary military service and continued advocacy for veterans.

· Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month: Proclamations were presented to several outstanding community leaders and organizations, including:

· Helen Cong for her grassroots service feeding the unhoused

o The Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston

o The South Asian Chamber of Commerce

o The Bangladeshi American Business Association (BABA)

o The Pakistani Association of Greater Houston


“These proclamations reflect the values that make Fort Bend County strong—compassion, commitment, and community,” said Judge George. “Today’s honorees represent the very best of us.”
