An Elks Lodge member (left) presents a flag that has been taken out of service to American Legion member Ernie Cormier (right) in special ceremonies on June 14 at the Katy Elks Lodge, 1050 Katy Fort Bend Road, Katy. The Katy Elks Lodge #2628 held a Flag Day observance, followed by the flag retirement ceremony, with about 40 in attendance. Participants included the Elks, members of the American Legion, and Scouting America. The Elks Lodge is the only fraternal organization that requires an annual observance of Flag Day, officials said during the program.
