“He’s one of the toughest kids I’ve ever coached. "He’s 170 pounds, but he has so much fight. It was never about him and that’s what sets him apart. He’s never been worried about stats or touchdowns, what he cares about is wins and that’s why I admire him so much.”

Saturday didn’t go like any Katy player wanted, but Seth Davis still made history.
The senior running back did everything he could to keep the Tigers in the game against Vandegrift in the state semifinals, and in the process passed one of the biggest milestones in Katy history.
Davis had a huge game and during it, passed Rodney Anderson to become the career rushing leader in Katy and Katy ISD history, surpassing Anderson’s lofty career mark of 6,533 rushing yards.
“It’s a great accomplishment, I would have rather had the win but it’s still a good feeling,” Davis said. “I couldn’t have done it without my lineman or my coaches or teammates though, the credit all goes to them.”
Davis ended the night with 257 yards rushing and two touchdowns, also scoring two touchdowns with runs of 49 and 64 yards as he put a mark on his final appearance in a Katy Tiger jersey.
“This program has been so good to me,” Davis said. “The players, the coaches they all became my family, these are my brothers. It’s been a blessing to play with them and be a part of this program.”
Vandegrift did an admirable job against the Tigers run game, but Davis still found a way to lead the Tigers offense and keep them in it all the way until the end, as he tied things up with under two minutes remaining after touching the ball on every play of the final Katy drive.
“He gave so much effort tonight,” said Katy head coach Gary Joseph. “I can’t say anything but great things about Seth Davis and the effort he put in and the efforts he’s given us his whole career. The effort the offensive line put in today too was really good. I’m happy that Seth was able to get that record.”
Davis ends his Katy career with 6,691 rushing yards to go with 76 rushing touchdowns and everyone who shared the locker room Davis knows how special of a three years it has been, as he and the rest of the seniors have won a state championship, gone to two state semifinals and exit the program with a 42-3 varsity record from they were sophomores to now.
“He’s one of the toughest kids I’ve ever coached,” Joseph said. “He’s 170 pounds, but he has so much fight. Anyone who has that much fight in them is a great football player. All of those guys who he’s passed they were great players in their own right. The thing about all of them and Seth included is that they could have had more yards rushing if they wanted to, but they were all unselfish. And that’s what Seth is, it was never about him and that’s what sets him apart from everyone else. He’s never been worried about stats or touchdowns, what he cares about is wins and that’s why I admire him so much.”
