Cinco Ranch qualifies for state 7-on-7

After a year absence, Cinco Ranch is headed back to the state 7-on-7 tournament.

128 teams from across the state of Texas will qualify for the tournament, which will be held in College Station June 27th-29th.

The Cougars qualified very early in the qualifying process in one of the first tournaments of the year at the Cy-Fair ISD West State Qualifying Tournament, where the Cougars went 4-0 on the way to qualifying in strong fashion.

Cinco beat Cy-Ranch 43-12, Jersey Village 20-12 and Heights 20-6 in group play, advancing to the state qualifying round with a 3-0 record before beating Bridgeland 20-19 in the in the state qualifying round to secure their spot at state.

It’s the second time in three years Cinco Ranch has made it to the state 7-on-7 tournament. It’s the 17th time that the Cougars have qualified overall. Last time the Cougars qualified for state they made it to the consolation bracket final.

Mayde Creek competed at the Cy-Fair ISD West State Qualifying Tournament. The Cougars beat Cy-Park 20-13 and beat Langham Creek 14-12 but lost 20-19 to Cy-Falls, narrowly missing out on the state qualifying round. Paetow also competed at the Cy-Fair West Tournament, beating Cy-Creek 26-13 but losing 20-13 to Cy-Springs and losing 27-6 to Bridgeland.

Tompkins competed at the Woodlands State Qualifying Tournament and narrowly came up short in group play. Tompkins beat Grand Oaks 13-6 but lost close games to Waller 46-40 and Bridgeland 18-14.
