After a multi-year hiatus and challenges presented by the pandemic, the Christian Business Fellowship Association has reactivated its Katy chapter. Led by local businessman Nick Doherty, the group’s mission is to provide a Christian business network that encourages Christian values -- “24 Hour Christians, in business, at home, and in the community,” according to the organization’s website.
For the first time since 2022, the Katy chapter met on February 11 at Ray’s Mexican Restaurant, 870 S. Mason in Katy, with about seven members attending. Doherty spoke on the importance of loving one another, even when it is difficult.
The group was first formed in 2006 and began meeting at the La Finca Restaurant on Mason (now occupied by Neca’s) but moved to Ray’s after four or five years, Doherty said. The group supported community efforts such as food pantries and a drive-through Halloween trick-or-treat event, among other initiatives.
CBFA Katy now intends to work with the new nonprofit Young Hearts and Hands in order to connect other area nonprofits with volunteers. Doherty’s company, NBD Graphics at 917 S. Mason in Katy, is serving as the pickup point for packets for Young Hearts and Hands’ March 28 Fun Run.
CBFA Katy will meet monthly at Ray’s on the second Wednesday of each month, with the next meeting set for March 11. A guest speaker is expected to be named once arrangements have been finalized.
