As the filing deadline for the school board and City of Katy city council races passed on February 13, the list of names to appear on the ballot for the May 2 elections was finalized.
There are nine candidates running for the three positions on Katy ISD’s board of trustees:
· Position 3, currently held by trustee Amy Thieme: Cicely Taylor, Sean Hesterley and Haider Razvi. Hesterly, who originally filed to run for position 5, withdrew from that race and filed for position 3.
· Position 4, now held by Morgan Calhoun: David Greene, Tiffany Auzenne and Jim Davidson.
· Position 5, held by Mary Ellen Cuzela: Nathan Shipley, Caleb Silverio, Jesus Nieto.
Incumbents Calhoun, Thieme and Cuzela did not file to run again. Calhoun posted a video on social media saying that, while she was honored to serve, she wanted to give more time back to her family.
Final candidates for city council:
· Councilmember At-Large, currently held by Chris Harris: Paul Follis, AJ Bailey.
· Councilmember Ward A, now held by Janet Corte: J.R. Richardson, Johnston Dietz.
· Councilmember Ward B, now held by Rory Robertson: Michael Payne, Michael D. Meihls, Jr., Lyn Hunter Sullivan and Roger Lowry. Lowry had not filed a campaign finance report as of February 15.
