The Brookshire-Katy Drainage District will celebrate its 65th anniversary on June 2 with an open house and grand opening of its new administration building. The event will take place at 10 a.m. at 1105 Kenney Street in Brookshire. The 6,328-square foot building broke ground on June 17, 2024, at 111 Kenney.
The Brookshire Katy Drainage District handles over 70 miles of channels in the area and has an annual budget of over $4 million, over $7 billion in valuations, according to previous reporting by the Katy Times. Stan Kitzman serves as the general manager and Wendy Sidwell is the district administrator.
