Austin County Fair announces 2019 line-up

Posted

This year the Austin County Fair is “Aiming for the Stars” and continuing to bring in the best country music entertainers, both classic and up-and-coming, to its open-air entertainment pavilion.

The concert series kicks off Saturday, Oct. 5, with good ole Red Dirt Country artists Read Southall and Koe Wetzel. Texas Country continues Thursday night with Kody West and Parker McCollum. On Friday, Oct. 11, following up-and-coming fan favorite Robert Ray, witness an Urban Cowboy Reunion with legendary Johnny Lee and Mickey Gilley. On Saturday, Oct. 12, Glen Templeton gets things going for country music superstar John Michael Montgomery.

The sky’s the limit at the Austin County Fair and Rodeo, Friday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 13, supporting local youth education and scholarships.

The Austin County Fair began in 1927 as an association to encourage agriculture and horticulture by the exhibition of livestock and farm products. The World War II-era brought about an important change in the emphasis of the fair: to support the interest of youth in agriculture, livestock and home economics. This is carried out by the annual Friday Youth Auction Sale. Last year’s Youth Auction Sale totaled over $1.4 million and broke three champion sale records.

Since 1993, The Austin County Fair Association has been awarding memorial scholarships in memory of deceased directors and spouses of directors. In 2018, the association awarded over $57,000 to graduating seniors from Austin County’s high schools.

As more people move to Austin County, the fair is seeing growth in attendance and in the number of exhibitors. Over 23,000 people attended the Austin County Fair last year.

For tickets, contact one of the queen candidates or visit www.austincountyfair.com and buy a season pass for four nights of concerts for only $35.
