‘100 Women of Waller Co.’ founded to raise $10,000 for charity; nonprofits encouraged to apply

It’s a simple concept – 100 women, spending one hour to donate $10,000 for local impact.

100 Women of Waller County, Texas, was founded in early 2026 as a philanthropic group that meets one time per year, with each person giving $100 to support a selected charity. At the annual meeting, members will vote to choose one local 501-c-3 charity to receive all donations. “100 women x $100 = $10,000 to the charity,” says the introductory letter.

“Simple concept with high impact,” organizers say on their Facebook page.

The group was founded by organizing members Debbie Roesler, Jackie Craven and Susan Hopkins. The organization grew through grass-roots efforts and social media promotion – hitting its goal of 100 members from all over the county on March 31.

The three original organizing members will post and accept applications for Waller County 501-c-3 nonprofits to apply for the funding. The group’s advisory board will narrow the finalists down to three nonprofits, based on select tiered criteria.

On Sunday, June 7, there will be a party at 3 p.m. at The Switch, 700 12th Street in Hempstead, where the top three nonprofit finalists will each have five minutes to present to the 100 Women of Waller County, giving their pitch for becoming the $10,000 beneficiary. One hour later, all the donors will vote to select the winning charity and will write their checks directly to that nonprofit that day.

The June 7 event includes light food, dessert, tea and drink tickets for wine, with costs picked up by the Advisory Board.

Waller County nonprofit 501-c-3 organizations are invited to apply for the first funding from 100 Women of Waller County by May 7. The application is available on the group’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/4307005439444451/files/files.
