For the last eleven years, H-E-B has set out on a quest to find the best in Texas – the best local products made by Texans, according to the brand’s website. From the Panhandle to the Rio Grande Valley, from West Texas to Beaumont, the H-E-B “Quest for Texas Best” is an open call for locally owned, small food, beverage, and general merchandise suppliers to have their items considered for placement on H-E-B shelves and $25,000 in their pocket.
The Coastal Prairie Conservancy (CPC) announced on June 22 the successful conservation of 298 acres in Matagorda County. Permanently protected through a conservation easement agreement with the landowners, this exceptional property is made up of globally rare coastal prairie (including several rare plants such as Bracted Grayfeather), coastal live oak forest, and restored grasslands and wetlands.
Shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9-11, according to a news release posted on the State Comptrollers website on July 25.
