Those seeking assistance with freeze damages from Winter Storm Uri which caused severe cold temperatures the week of Valentines Day must submit their applications by April 20. The Federal Emergency Management Agency advises area residents to contact their renters or homeowners insurance providers then file their claim with FEMA.
To apply for winter storm assistance or obtain aid regarding an assistance-related appeal or denial, visit www.disasterassistance.gov, call 832-927-4955 or email HRC@csd.hctx.net. Applicants may also call 800-621-3362.

Assistance is also available for those who lost a loved one due to COVID-19 and need help with funeral expenses. To apply for this aid, the requestor must call 844-864-6333. Funeral assistance is available through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Funeral expense aid is available for any costs related to a COVID-19 death that occurred on or after Jan. 20, 2020.
