Wendy Lane Kubena
Wendy Lane Kubena, 63, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024. She was born
November 19, 1960, in Marlin, Texas, the daughter of Jimmy Wayne and Lelia Kay (Kyser)
Woliver. Wendy graduated from Waltrip High School in Houston, Texas, class of 1979. Following graduation, Wendy attended Texas A&M, then earned her teaching degree from Sam Houston State University.
Wendy began her teaching career in Katy, Texas. It was during these years that she met her husband, John Kubena. Wendy and John were married on the courthouse square on June 19, 2005. They lived happily on their farm Tres Arboles, in Hempstead, Texas. Wendy had a passion for teaching. She taught speech, drama and English at the high school level. She spent her entire teaching career in the Katy School District at Katy High School.
Wendy was also very passionate about animals. She loved living on the farm she shared with John and their many farm animals. Wendy also loved to crochet and was an excellent cook. She would often share recipes with her mother.
Wendy is preceded in death by her grandparents Sam & Tina (Cox) Kyser; Porter and Aggie (Bryant) Woliver; her mother-in-law Dollie Kubena; and her uncle Phillip Meuse.
Surviving in addition to her husband John Kubena, are her son, John Wayne Erskine and his wife Ashley of Katy, Texas; her granddaughter Olivia Erskine; her step-son, Mark Kubena and
wife Sarah of Justin, Texas; and grandchildren Maddie and Ira; her sister Christy (Woliver) Hansen
and husband Mark, of College Station, Texas; and her parents Jim and Kay Woliver, of Kosse, Texas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday with Chaplain Oge Ibem officiating.
