Volunteers, donations needed for new teacher swag bags

Posted

For new teachers, getting established in a new job and in a new town with unfamiliar surroundings can be overwhelming.

The Sealy Chamber of Commerce understands that, and in an effort to create a seamless transition, every year it assembles swag bags for new teachers at Sealy High School, Selman Intermediate School, Sealy Junior High School, Selman Elementary School, and Sealy Elementary.

The chamber needs volunteers to help fill the bags. Volunteers can report to the chamber office on Monday, July 29, but please register at sealychamber.com. Volunteers are needed to deliver the swag bags to the Sealy ISD administrative office on Tuesday, July 30.

Donations are needed for the bags. Suggested items include pens, pencils, mugs, notepads, candy or snacks, Post-It pads, gift cards or gift certificates (no fliers). Each participating business will need to provide 50 of each item.

The deadline for donations is Friday, July 26. Drop them off at the chamber office, 309 Main St., Sealy. For more information, email info@sealychamber.com or call 979-885-3222.
