Violet Miertschin Tarpey was born on March 9, 1941, in Giddings, Texas, to Carl and Minnie Symank Miertschin. On February 8, 1963, Violet married Thomas Anthony Tarpey in Houston, Texas. She and Tom lived in Houston, Austin, and Pearland before moving to Katy in 1975; they were members of Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy.
