Two people were injured in an airplane crash that occurred Friday evening in the 18000 block of Clay Road.
Firefighters from the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a single-engine aircraft upside down with heavy, front-end damage but no fire.
Two people were trapped in the airplane. Westlake paramedics worked to stabilize them while rescue companies from Westlake, Cy-Fair and Houston worked to remove them from the wreck. The extent of the damage to the aircraft and its location hampered extrication efforts.
The patients were transferred via Life Flight helicopters to a local trauma center. There is no immediate word on their condition.
The FAA, Harris County Sheriff’s office and the FAA are leading the investigation.
