Tompkins places five on All-State team

Five Tompkins players were named to the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association All-State team on Friday, as the accolades continued pouring in for the Falcons after they reached the Class 6A state final this season.

Five Tompkins players were named to the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association All-State team on Friday, as the accolades continued pouring in for the Falcons after they reached the Class 6A state final this season.

Cindy Tchouangwa was the top award winner from the school and district, being named to the second team as an outside hitter, the senior led the Falcons with 590 kills and 40 blocks this season, while she also added 504 digs and 42 aces this year, leading the Falcons to their best season in the programs history.

The Falcons had four players that were named honorable mentions, adding to Tchouangwa who was second team. Tendai Titley and Skylar Skrabanek were both named honorable mentions as outside hitters, while Presley Powell was named to the team as a setter and Brooklynn Merrell was named to the team as a libero.

Titley had 468 kills, 487 digs, 62 aces and 37 blocks on the season while Skrabanek had 325 kills, 457 digs, 22 blocks and eight assists this year. Powell ended the season with 694 assists, 147 digs, 56 kills and 29 blocks and Merrell had 680 digs, 104 aces, 56 kills and eight kills.

The coach and player of the year both went to Dripping Springs, which beat Tompkins in the state title game, with Michael Kane winning coach of the year and Mackenzie Plante winning player of the year.
